It’s not as depressing as it appears. It’s more my realisation that as I get busy or distracted with other things, and I abandon my writing. In fact it’s worse than that. I get busy, then I get lazy. I start a draft and then I just forget about it.

It’s been 108 days since I started trying to write a post everyday. They’ve not all been literary works of art or even all that insightful. I don’t think I’ve picked up a style or realised what I write best about.

What trends?

External trends haven’t been an influence. I’m rarely writing about things that are current. Posts which have had the most likes or comments also vary. Mostly regarding my broken leg or food and drink. But then my post about places I love in London did well. Ok, I think that was about food and drink as well. Then so did my post on buying an Apple Watch. Timing might have helped there (being close to the Apple event).

Is it all about marketing?

So does a writing style matter or is it just all about churning the click throughs?

The project never intended to be a massive community gain. It’s about me and my confidence to put pen to paper and share some thoughts. Hopefully in a sort of structured manner.

To write everyday means the subject matter has to be varied. Much like our lives which rarely consists of just doing one thing over and over. That being said, happiness is usually about the things we love and the continued pleasure it brings. That perhaps eliminates the repetitiveness.

Anything to share

So I’ll continue. Finding the things that amuse, interest and entertain me. Just trying to make sure I find 30 minutes a day to focus a bit harder on writing more than a sentence.

If I’ve learnt anything, it’s that one edit is good enough. On the days where I don’t edit at all…. Then so what!
