Holidays with a broken leg

4 weeks ago I wanted to cancel my trip. It’s been so hard to walk and get around. I get tired quickly and hey, I’m happy watching random daytime TV all day long. It’s not been easy but 5 weeks later, it’s so great to be in New York though.

My friend makes me walk a lot more than I would myself. She’s also helped wheel me round; the botanical gardens, the Brooklyn Museum, the Met, Liberty & Ellis Island and the Guggenheim (they’re all great at providing a free wheelchair if you ask). Then I’ve done over 10km this last few days on my own. Phew!

Not to mention the three staircases I have to do each day to get in and out of the apartment.

My hands ache, my good leg wants to drop off. My bad leg ankle is stiff and swollen. But it’s not as crap as it sounds. I’m not ready to let my broken leg stop me. In any case, it helps skip the queues 😉
