I’m a bit of a data geek. I love numbers and analytics. When I decided that I would take part in Race for Life (a completely mad idea), I tracked my progress throughout all my training. I have Moves app on my phone and have been working out ways to track my horse’s fitness with a Fitbit attached to a boot.
With my startup, ArtSpotter, I got a morning email with a huge set of numbers. This included number of users, number of events, number of people who’d done a certain number of actions, all our social stats, etc. This would empower me with all the numbers to real off whenever a potential investor asked.
I’m waiting for the second generation Apple watch to play with more “quantified self“.
Words vs numbers
Part of the fun of daily blogging is comparing how each day does compared to the last. I get quite competitive with myself to see if I can get more visitors, more views, more clicks.
The experiment was to help improve my writing capability. Not to worry about whether anyone would read the posts. The minute you realise it’s more than yourself is browsing you get quite excited. At least I do.
I won’t lie. If this also proves to be a great way for me to learn more about growing and engaging with communities, then it’ll be some added #win.
